Nationally Outstanding Art Results for Y Pant Students

|
Y Pant School celebrated this week on learning of the outstanding national success of several of their GCSE and ‘AS’ Level Art students. The examination board EDEXCEL contacted Y Pant with the news that of the 36 294 students who sat Art GCSE throughout the UK and internationally, no fewer than six Y Pant students had been listed amongst the top ten. Bethan Smyth, Lois Payne, Stephanie Lamerton, Rachel Hughes, Christopher Hayes and Bailey Davies all received commendation and congratulations from the examining body for this tremendous achievement. Furthermore, of 6 535 ‘AS’ Level Art students two Y Pant students - John Rogers and Nia Maynard - were amongst the top ten. Acting Head of Art, Mrs Sara Nowell-Hughes, expressed her pride in the ‘extremely hard work’ exhibited by each student as well as their ‘exciting and skilled work.’

The Managing Director of EDEXCEL, Mr Jerry Jarvis, congratulated each student, saying, ‘This is a tremendous achievement and testament to the hard work students put into preparing for their exams.’ Mr Stuart Tucker, the Headteacher of Y Pant School, echoed this view, adding that ‘these students are not only exceptionally talented young artists but are also diligent in the ways that they make the most of their talent. They have also been fortunate to have worked with a group of committed and creative Art teachers who have helped them to realise their potential. I’m sure that they will go on to bigger and better things and perhaps their work will command prices in the future similar to Damien Hirst’s!’
