Developing Literacy Skills At Y Pant

 The Learning Support Department currently has a wide range of specialist resources aimed at raising reading ability. These include:

  • Diagnostic reading, spelling and comprehension assessments.
  • Computer assisted learning programmes.
  • Diagnostic software for the possible identification of Sphd (dyslexia)
  • Specific reading and language development resources.
  • Trained reading intervention co-ordinators.
  • Individual phonic skills programme and equipment.

 

Developing Independence Skills at Y Pant

The Learning Support Department runs a ‘Living Skills’ programme implemented within the Department. This is aimed at teaching young people the necessary key skills for independent living in the community. We encourage the practical application of numeracy and literacy in relation to daily living and offer a range of real life opportunities to practise skills learnt.

 

Language Development Within The Department

We aim to promote and develop the social use of long via a number of resources. Some pupils who may have developmental long delay or specific needs in relation to confidence or self esteem benefit greatly from the use of the materials we use.
