The Layout of Llancaiach Fawr

Colonel Pritchard's Study

In this room Colonel Pritchard would have worked out his plans, written to his allies and prepared for his part in the Civil War. The room also contained a pigeon loft. This would have provided fresh meat in winter. It also contained the only windows in the house which could be opened.

Royal Visitors to Llancaiach Fawr

On Tuesday 5th August 1645, King Charles visited Llancaich Fawr on his way to Brecon from Cardiff. The King ate dinner in the Great Hall at Llancaiach. Even though he left Llancaich shortly after his meal, Charles' visit must have made a lot of extra work for the servants of the house.
