| Why choose Business Studies? Read these profiles of business studies students. Why would they recommend the subject? What were their strategies for success? |

Year 10 GCSE |
In year 10 students look at:
- Business Activity and the Changing Environment
- Production
- Human Resources
- Accounting and Finance
|
These topics involve students producing a variety of work including;
- Looking at mission statements and designing SMART objectives
- Reporting on the changes of the economic environment
- Visit to Cadbury World to look at production methods and quality control
- Taking part in a recruitment and selection activity designing interviewing documentation including job descriptions, job adverts, interview questions and legislation leaflet.

Year 11 GCSE |
In year 11 students look at:
- Marketing
- Coursework
- Revision
|
The majority of the year is spent focusing on coursework which requires students to look at opening their own small business in the local area. Students are expected to come up with a marketing campaign to make the business a success. This involves coming up with a product or service, market research and promotion of the business. |

Year 12 AS |
The specification is to change considerably starting September 2009 therefore sample work in relation to the new specification will be posted later in the year. However students are always encouraged to look in the news for examples of how topics in the classroom relate to the business world. |

Year 13 A2 |
In year 13 students currently look at the following topics;
- Marketing and Accounting Finance
- People and Operations Management
- External Influences and Objectives and Strategy
|
At A2 students need to focus on showing analytical and evaluative skills. As an alternative to coursework students complete an exam. The exam requires students to analyse data to help make recommendations. |
