Victoria and Albert Museum Trip

The Year Ten trip to The Victoria and Albert Museum, in London took place at the start of the Architectural Forms Unit of work. The visit plays an important part in looking at Art and Design outside the classroom as well as collecting valuable marks for the coursework folder. The trip involved an early start at school and several DVDs later we arrived in Central London and were dropped off outside the Museum. The V&A is an impressive and varied collection open to anyone interested in Art and Design from across the world. The collection includes examples of Interior Design, Textiles and Fashion, Fine Art as well as Architecture. The huge range of architectural forms was an inspiration to the Year Ten students who sketched, photographed and collected resources from different cultures and periods of history. Students explored the Iron works Gallery, were wowed by the immense cast courts and produced some intricate studies from the Asia Galleries. The day was a big success and gave the students a rare experience to see such a range of Architectural Forms first hand.
