PLAN / DEVELOP

Develop; Then save it in your user area and delete all the lines and writing before creating your own brochure/

Things to Include

PLAN

Save this document in your user area. Print it off and use it to help you plan the content for your brochure. Write on it where you are going to get the information (Encarta or a website - give the address). For some items make a note of what the information is.

Sources of Information

PLAN

Wikipedia is an online encyclopedia. Anyone can add content which some people think makes it unreliable but it also means that anyone can challenge the content if it is wrong which usually makes it more accurate and up-to-date. The images are usually good quality - click on them to view the largest possible size before saving them.

CIA; The World Factbook of the American Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) is a useful website for finding out facts and figures about your chosen countries. It is updated regularly and as it is a Government agency it should be factually accurate. However, be aware that it will be politically biased to reflect the opinions of the United States Government.
Search Engine; If you want to look for information on the internet generally, avoid using Google images. It's very hard to get decent quality images showing what you want. Use a standard Google.co.uk websearch and look carefully at the sites offered. Look at this example below.
Feedback

REFLECT

When you have completed the first draft of your brochure print out this feedback sheet and ask for feedback from 3 people in your class. Make improvements where necessary.

Report

REFLECT

When you have completed your brochure you need to write a report explaining your work. Click on the graphic to the right to open up the report template then save it into your Year 8 folder. Answer the questions as required.

Extension

PLAN / DEVELOP

Create a photo montage of your chosen country. Use Macromedia Fireworks to create a montage of interesting photos that could be included in a poster at a holidays exhibition.

The canvas should be 297mm wide by 210mm long (A4 landscape size). Document resolution should be 220 dpi (dots per inch) for good quality printing purposes.
