This Intranet resource aims to introduce you to animation using Macromedia Flash. By linking to a series of tutorials and resources that increase in complexity it aims to allow you to improve your knowledge and understanding at your own pace. Click on the appropriate links below which will take you to video tutorials, web based resources or useful helpsheets.

When you have developed a good grasp of the basics you may wish to have a go at simple game creation. To access resources and tutorials click on the buttons on the left.

1 Simple animation (London Underground)

Here is a simple animation which creates a motion tween showing a train's progress through the London Underground.

You may need to download this London Underground map and save it in your area.

2 Website heading

This is a tutorial to show you how to create a simple heading for a website in Flash.

3 Bouncing ball

 This tutorial will get you to create a bouncing ball. It will introduce you to layers as the ball will also have a shadow with it. Bouncing Ball.

When you start creating your own animations you will need to know how to use drawing tools to create your own graphics. This Basic Drawing Techniques tutorial shows you some of the methods available.

8 Motion Tween to a Path

This Motion Tween to a Path tutorial shows you how to attach an object to a path that you specify.

9 Creating navigation buttons in Flash

12 Creating Digital Stories

Try using some of your Flash animation skills to create digital stories like these:-

You can use real backgrounds by taken photos or finding graphics on the Internet. You include yourself or friends as characters.
